Every now and then, and we do mean that literally. A movement comes along and you just know somethings about to go down in the music industry. Enter The Offbrand. Two teenaged lyricist with real… dare we say hip hop talent. It really baffles the mind because they’re not old enough to remember when there was such a thing, this hip hop. They came up in a time where the art form is on it’s way out. Or as Nas put it, “Hip Hop Is Dead”. Now it’s just about commercialism, rims, rides, and cribs, clubs, drugs and half-naked video chicks.

The Offbrand, says Their drive comes from living in project housing for 13-14 years of their young lives. Seeing only negative role- models. One member Yada has a very animated but different approach to hip hop. “I’m only 14 and i’ve lived in three or four different states, been in five or six different schools. Make new friends then bam!… time to move again! So I stopped tryin’ to make friends”! He laughs. “I made friends with my music. That way I can carry it with me”.
Check-out The Offbrand on Myspace or a nibble of their first single next month right here @ opmmusicwerx.com as our featured Artist of the Month

-Chicago- We had to find out the whats and whys on Chronic Agression. “I wanted to call the album The Come Up. But of course it got vetoed, he vetos everything! Says Chronic Agression 17 year old lyricist about his manager Chalie Numbas. He says I need a signature album for my first album. So Numbas thinks it should be self titled “Chronic Agression”. But I don’t give up easy so it’s subtitlted “The Come Up”.

Why the name Chronic Agression? When people hear the word chronic they automatically thinks of weed. Because that’s what the business is right now. Seems like everybody blaze. Do you? Nah, it ain’t for me. I don’t judge though. Anyway, my name means constant, Chronic. Agression I’m very agressive. That’s my writing style, my nature. It’s simple, it ain’t even complicated. It’s checkers not chess”. Laughing at himself.
